The Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock show is in full swing preparing for another great show on the picturesque Butterfield estate on Sunday 13th August. Once again all entries in the equine section will be taken on the day which proved most successful in 2022 which saw the highest number of entries for many years in the horse section. The highlight of the day was the arrival of renowned Tiger Roll and he went on to win the “racehorse to riding horse class”. All eyes will be on who will win it in 2023. Another highlight is the “Glenwood Gold Medal Breeders Challenge” which has €250first prize. The introduction to working hunter proved to be a massive success with over 30 entries last year and is back in the schedule again this year. Certainly, the Classical Ladies Side Saddle is a pleasure to watch. Clydesdales and miniatures are a regular feature at the Tullamore Show.
This year sees new classes in the Connemara section.
• Under 16 Ridden Connemara
• Over 16 Ridden Connemara.
The ever-popular family pony arena will again be sponsored by Joyce’s Saddlery. This not only attracts the young people but also the granny’s, granddad’s, aunts, and uncles all cheering them on.
This will all blend to help create a super enjoyable day.
A “trade town” of 100’s shops, displays and exhibits will cover all your needs and interests. From the farming enthusiast to the animal lover and the fashion follower to the competitive counterpart, although it sounds like a cliché but there really is something for everyone at this year’s show. Trade stands cover over 80 acres and include farm machinery, agricultural and industrial supplies, garden, home and leisure, food, crafts, tourism and travel, fashion not to mention new products to the market with plenty of surprises. Your day will certainly be a non-stop adventure. This year the show launches the “Sustainable Livestock Village” which will provide a platform for farmers to learn more about practices that can boost the sustainable performance on their farms, also there will be “Sustainable Farmer” awards presented on the day. With over 60,000 expected to attend, all roads will lead to Tullamore with people wanting to capture the country living showcase at Tullamore Show.
The entertainment sector of the show has numerous attractions on the band stand with the Mountbolus Pipe Band performing at the opening ceremony. This year we are again supporting local with our very own Olivia Douglas and band among many other musical attractions.
New to the show this year will be the Culinary Food Emporium with chef Adrian Martin and the Neven Maguire giving baking and cooking demonstrations throughout the day.
